Ok –two weeks to go until we hit peak season for break up do’s, Christmas parties, office celebrations, family gatherings and whatever else you could think of that fills your calendar at this time of year. And it’s true, you don’t have to do them all but even if you find yourself knocking a few back, it will soon be replaced with another function or event where you’re “knocking a few back”. So here’s our thoughts on getting through without ending the season with a heap of guilt that forces you into making a bunch of New Year’s Resolutions you’re never going to keep. Let’s get a little serious.

Find time to STOP and step back a bit. Take a deep breath – not the deep breath you take before you have another shot of eggnog – but a real break, maybe a 15-minute nap while listening to soothing music during a break or between appointments.  Do it daily, you don’t have to actually sleep, just closing your eyes will help.

You spend all year looking after yourself, and every year you drop the exercise routine that keeps you sane right when you need it.   If your routine is after work, try and switch it up to morning and leave your afternoon free for whatever event is coming up.  Got an hour to kill before it starts? Keep your gear handy and take a 20 minute jog before, but remember it’s warm, you’ll sweat so keep your Black Leopard Invigorating Body wash and Anti-Perspirant handy or you’ll find  yourself flying solo and wondering why no one wants to talk to you.

Eat well

Eating well means eating healthy, not losing weight but eating plenty of good food that will keep your energy levels up. We all know that you’re going to sneak in the odd late night souvlaki or Chinese meal so make up for it during the day with whole grains and leafy green vegetables, make lean protein 10-35% of your calories, and reduce your salt intake.

Drink plenty of water

Drinking 8 glasses of water every day to make your skin glow is not a myth! Water keeps you healthy and hydrated and it also acts as a natural moisturiser for your skin. When you’re dehydrated, it makes skin look more dry and wrinkled and you don’t want to look like a dried prune.

A good skincare routine

A good men’s skincare routine is easy and straight forward but so important. All you need is to follow this rule: cleanse and moisturise. A good face wash will help you clean out the days dirt and prevent new dirt and oil from entering your pores, while a good moisturiser will help your skin glow, and prevent aging and unwanted wrinkles.

For men on the go, having good skincare products will keep your skin nourished, hydrated and protected from the sun which will make you look younger and healthier.

Keeping the above in mind and you’ll find yourself sleighing (pun intended) the function season.
